Huangxue Temple was built to worship Confucius and promote education. First constructed during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1616 AD), the temple covers an area of 4,285 square metres. Having survived 400 years of wind and rain as well as wars and turmoil, it is the only remaining architectural relic from the Ming Dynasty in Yongren County.

Every year on the 27th day of the eighth lunar month, grand ceremonies are held here to commemorate the birthday of Confucius, advocating respect for teachers and valuing education while spreading progressive culture.

As the cradle of Confucian learning, the birthplace of local education and a witness of history, Huangxue Temple represents non-renewable cultural heritage. It serves as an important historical evidence for experts and scholars studying ancient architectural art, history and culture in Yongren.
