Hou'er Tiankeng Scenic Area in Kaiyang, Guizhou is located in Chengguan Town, Kaiyang County, north of Guiyang. It is 62 kilometers away from downtown Guiyang and 70 kilometers from Zunyi, a famous historical and cultural city.
Boasting typical karst landforms, the scenic area sits at an average altitude of 1,100 meters with a planned coverage of 18 square kilometers and abundant natural resources. It integrates a standard vertical shaft tiankeng (300 meters in diameter at the opening, 280 meters deep, and 280 meters in maximum diameter at the bottom), steep cliffs, underground rivers and soaring waterfalls into one landscape, embodying wonder, peril, mystery and seclusion all at once. Caves and underground rivers are scattered in picturesque disorder, while waterfalls and mountain springs hang down from the sky. Unique blind aquatic creatures such as blind fish and blind frogs create a magical and enigmatic ecological scene.
