Indoor and Outdoor Hot Spring Baths
Macha River Xilu Hot Spring
Macha River Xilu Hot Spring is situated in Wenquan Village, Chengguan Town. It is 79 kilometers away from Guiyang, the provincial capital, a 1.5-hour drive, and 15 kilometers from downtown Kaiyang.
It is a rare deep geothermal hot spring formed in the Proterozoic Pre-Sinian strata nationwide, and also one of the very few springs in China whose water is both drinkable and bathable. The spring outlet lies on the western limb of the Wengzhao Anticline and along the Macha River tensional fault zone, classified as a fault fissure spring. The spring water emerges at an elevation of 693 meters, 0.2 meters above the river surface, with a constant temperature of 43°C and a flow rate of 4.65 liters per second, yielding a daily discharge of up to 400 tons. The water is crystal clear, and biological testing confirms it fully meets drinking water standards.
In May 1987, an appraisal jointly conducted by the Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources and Guizhou Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources verified that Macha River Xilu Hot Spring contains more than 30 trace elements. It is premium natural calcium bicarbonate-magnesium mineral water rich in metasilicic acid, strontium, zinc and other trace elements. Its sanitary indicators comply with China’s standards for drinking mineral water and the World Health Organization’s guidelines for drinking water quality. The spring water can be developed as bottled mineral water, a base liquid for a full range of beverages, and medicinal mineral water.
The mineral spring water boasts excellent sensory properties and a pure taste. It contains 13 out of the 14 mineral elements essential to the human body, earning it the title of "Top Hot Spring in Central Guizhou" from experts. Many centenarians live near the hot spring, and experts have confirmed their longevity is linked to regular consumption of the spring water, hence it is also known as the "Longevity Spring".
The resort features one restaurant specializing in selenium-rich farmhouse cuisine, offering an abundant selection of dishes including signature hot spring fish, cold platters, hot dishes and hot pots. Visitors can savor selenium-enriched delicacies while enjoying the natural hot springs.
