Zhang Liang Hall Scenic Area

It is a national 2A-level tourist attraction.

Zhang Liang, courtesy name Zifang, was the chief military advisor of Liu Bang and one of the Three Heroes of the Han Dynasty, enfeoffed as Marquis of Liu. His grandfather and father both served as prime ministers for five successive kings of the State of Han. After the Qin Dynasty conquered Han, out of gratitude to his motherland, Zhang Liang spent all his family fortune to hire an assassin to assassinate Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Following the failed attempt, he fled to ancient Xiapi to evade arrest. Later, he chanced upon Elder Huangshi at Yi Bridge and received Taigong’s Art of War — this is the well-known tale of Zhang Liang picking up the elder’s shoe at the bridge.

In 209 BC, Chen Sheng and Wu Guang launched an uprising at Dazexiang. Zhang Liang rose up in response and met Liu Bang by coincidence. From then on, he became Liu Bang’s vital strategist and rendered extraordinary meritorious service to the founding of the Han Dynasty. Liu Bang praised him as one of the Three Heroes of the Han Dynasty with the famous line: "He devises winning strategies within the commander’s tent and secures victories a thousand li away."

To commemorate Zhang Liang, local people in Suining built Zhang Liang Hall for later generations to pay homage to him.
