Xiangshui River Headwater Drift
Xiangshui River Headwater Drift is located within the managed forest area of Xinancha Forest Farm under Fangzheng Forestry Bureau, 85 kilometres away from Fangzheng County. It is the earliest developed drifting scenic spot in the county.
The whole drifting waterway stretches 10 kilometres with a total drop of 37 metres. Among all local drifting routes, it boasts the largest elevation drop, the swiftest current and the most exciting experience. The river winds repeatedly with crystal-clear water. The riverbanks are covered with picturesque and pleasant landscapes. Tourists can enjoy thrilling rafting as well as mountain hiking and forest sightseeing.
Not far from the drifting site lies a primeval forest dotted with ancient trees aged 400 to 500 years. The oldest Korean pine tree is estimated by experts to be 1,500 years old, with a trunk diameter of 1.5 metres, which takes three adults to encircle. Local villagers say the ancient tree has absorbed the essence of heaven and earth and gained spiritual power. If you pray sincerely here, your wishes will come true.
Halfway along the drifting route is the Divine Spring. The spring water runs all year round, clear and sweet. Folklore holds that drinking the spring water can cure illnesses.
In 2005, the developer upgraded catering and entertainment facilities. Now there are 120 guest rooms capable of receiving more than 500 tourists, delivering better and higher-quality services for visitors.
