Shixiakou in Qingshuihe County

Mountain Gorge Manor sits at the heart of the Shixiakou Ecological Scenic Area in Qingshuihe County. It is more than 200 kilometres east of Xinzhou, Shanxi Province, 5 kilometres south of National Highway 109, 28 kilometres west of the Qingshuihe County seat, and 130 kilometres north of Hohhot City.

The manor borders Shixiakou Reservoir to the east, Shirenbei Mountain to the west, Ya Linggou Ecological Nature Reserve to the south, and the former arsenal of Unit 5411 to the north. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, it enjoys a mild climate with luxuriant mountain vegetation and dense tree canopies; forest coverage exceeds 40%. Clear streams wind through the gullies all year round, painting a pleasant landscape teeming with countless birds, flowers and occasional wild beasts. It is one of the rare scenic spots in the county that boast crystal-clear mountains and rivers, picturesque scenery and harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, making it an ideal retreat for leisure, vacations, sightseeing and summer escapes.

Invested and constructed in 2010 with a total fund of 5 million RMB by Qingshuihe Shixiakou Tourism Co., Ltd. of Hohhot, Mountain Gorge Manor has completed a full set of facilities: 40 four-star cave hotel rooms, a 300-square-metre paved courtyard, 2 kilometres of hardened sightseeing trails, one dock, a 400-square-metre paved parking lot, one agritainment restaurant, three 16-square-metre pavilions, five Mongolian yurts, one golden-top grand yurt, a 20-mu fruit-picking garden, an ornamental rare bird park, a 100-square-metre folk custom exhibition hall, 20 sets of street lamps and 2 eco-friendly public toilets. Supporting infrastructure including water supply & drainage, communication, power supply, flood control, fire protection and sewage treatment has all been finished. In 2012, it was certified as an Autonomous Region Four-Star Agritainment.

All dishes served at the agritainment restaurant are home-grown green organic food. Tourists from all over can not only fully appreciate the beauty of natural scenery, but also savour pure organic farm produce and game raised freely in the woods. In the evening, unique bonfire parties and folk ballad performances are held for guests to enjoy.
