China She Landscape Scenic Area nestles among rolling mountains and clear waters, where green peaks, limpid water and lush trees form a naturally integrated landscape. It is hailed as a remarkable cultural wonder of Fujian, an ecological benchmark of Fuzhou, and a new landmark showcasing distinctive She ethnic customs in Luoyuan.
The scenic spot lies in Huokou Township of Luoyuan County, one of Fuzhou’s only two She ethnic townships. It links She villages including Shanlongwan and Gangwei and borders Minhou County. Covering an area of around 13,000 mu with a total investment of 120 million yuan, the starting point of the scenic zone is approximately 38 kilometres from downtown Luoyuan and 59 kilometres from Fuzhou National Forest Park. As a vital component of Luoyuan’s tourism brand “She Customs & Coastal Charm”, it ranks among Fujian’s rare She-themed scenic areas and one of Luoyuan’s key tourist attractions.
She Landscape earns its fame for spectacular mountain vistas. Its gullies and valleys are shaped by the South Dragon Mountain and North Phoenix Mountain, whose undulating ridges stretch endlessly. Hiking uphill along the boardwalk, visitors catch glimpses of brooks shimmering through woods and hear the thunderous rush of waterfalls pounding against rocks. In early winter, century-old maple groves blaze with crimson foliage for guests to admire. Walking downhill, you may step into crystal-clear streams and get up close with the refreshing water. Bathed in dappled sunlight amid mountain valleys and breathing air rich in negative oxygen ions, visitors can enjoy an exclusive forest spa experience.
What makes She Landscape truly outstanding is its water scenery, reputed as a “world of pure spring water”. Trekking upstream along the brook, you will see crystal-clear streams with sweet-tasting water that leave visitors full of praise and reluctant to depart. Along the way lie valley swimming pools, water-play terraces, natural spring bathing pools, shallow shoals, deep plunge pools and cascading waterfalls. Waterfalls such as the Third Well, Second Well, First Well and Gourd Gate Waterfall surge straight down or crash over rock ledges. Even in dry seasons, the vast stone cliff of the First Well Waterfall stands as a unique signature sight exclusive to She Landscape.
Centered on authentic She folk customs, the scenic area preserves its original ecological environment while showcasing She culture through distinctive wooden architecture, ornaments, handicrafts and traditional She costumes. Facilities including She Stockade Resort, She Ethnic Performance Square and She Folk Antiphonal Singing Stage present age-old She traditions, enhancing the site’s cultural, popular science and recreational value and encouraging interactive participation from tourists.
