The Sea Fishing Village

The "Sea Fishing Village" is situated in Lieyu Bay of Shen’ao Town. Across the sea to its north lies Zhelin Town of Raoping County. Standing like natural gateways guarding the bay are Lieyu Islet and Huyu Islet (also known as Tayu Islet). The bay boasts expansive, calm waters, making it a natural haven for marine aquaculture.

In ancient times, this area served as a vital defensive rampart for Shen’ao. It also commanded the maritime shipping lanes linking Fujian and Guangdong, functioning as a key hub along the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Moreover, it was a renowned historic naval battlefield, where national heroes including Qi Jiguang, Zheng Chenggong, Liu Yongfu and Yu Dayou created immortal feats resisting foreign invasions and recovering Taiwan.

Once a sea scarred by endless warfare, the bay has now transformed into a vibrant blue pasture teeming with fish and shrimp. Rows of aquaculture cages, vast bamboo racks for laver cultivation, cages of pearl oysters, clusters of green mussels and Pacific oysters thrive abundantly. On the extensive tidal flats, local residents have developed over ten thousand mu of seawater breeding farms through marine farming, forming a veritable "treasure basin" specializing in premium seafood such as grouper, abalone, pearls, laver, prawns and shellfish.

Complete supporting facilities are available here, including tourist yachts, fishing platforms and an overwater restaurant. Visitors may cruise by yacht between Lieyu Islet, Huyu Islet, Gold and Silver Island, the Sea Fishing Village, the ecological three-dimensional mixed breeding zones and pearl farms.

It is immensely relaxing to come here to feel the sea breeze, admire coastal scenery, listen to the rhythmic tides and savour fresh seafood.
