Wind Farm Sightseeing Zone
The Wind Farm Sightseeing Zone is located in the Guolao Mountain Range on the East Peninsula. A spectacular array of wind turbines stands atop the lush, verdant mountain peaks of Nan'ao Island, reaching up to the boundless cloudy sky and stretching down to the vast blue sea, forming a magnificent new landscape unique to southern Guangdong.
At present, the wind farm is equipped with 111 sets of the world’s most advanced automatic wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 42,000 kilowatts and an annual power output of over 100 million kilowatt-hours. It ranks as Asia’s largest offshore island wind farm.
High-power astronomical telescopes are available within the sightseeing zone. Visitors can enjoy mountain and sea views in the daytime; with special neutral-density filters fitted, sunspots on the sun can be clearly observed. At night, guests may stargaze to admire lunar craters, Saturn’s rings, as well as rare celestial phenomena such as comets and meteors.
There is also a wind power exhibition corridor, which displays the development and utilization of wind energy resources on Nan'ao, the progress of domestic wind turbine manufacturing, together with the working principles and environmental significance of wind power generation. This high-tech, eco-friendly scenic spot integrates sightseeing, leisure tours and popular science education in one place
