Swallow Rock Cave is located 5 kilometers southwest of the county seat, under the jurisdiction of Swallow Village, Chengguan Town. It is the largest limestone karst cave in the county. The cave is home to numerous bats that take flight when exposed to light. Ancient locals mistook them for swallows, hence the name Swallow Rock Cave.
Carved into a steep cliff, the cave features a jagged rock overhanging its top. The entrance stands 6 meters high and 5 meters wide, while the main cave stretches roughly 400 meters in length. Inside lies a stone pond fed by an endless spring. Nine branch tunnels branch off both sides of the main cave, winding deep into the hills; the longest one extends 160 meters. Overhanging stalactites hang from the ceiling, fresh spring water drips constantly, and stone pillars and stalagmites stand densely throughout the cave. Around six to seven meters inside the entrance, two massive stones sit in the center shaped like a table and chairs, with stone benches beside them. Legend has it that this spot is where the reclusive scholar Jiang Hui attained immortality.
Also commonly known as Chaoyin Cave, Swallow Rock Cave has a folk tale attached to it: the Goddess of Mercy once received homage from immortals here. Finding the cave too cramped, the immortals pushed its ceiling upward with their heads to expand the space, leaving countless indentations from their heads on the front cave wall. In reality, these marks are natural formations shaped by weathered stalactites.
