Qingyuan Confucian Temple (the 6th Batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units)

Period: Jin Dynasty to Qing Dynasty
Location: Northwest corner of Zhaojia Street, downtown Qingxu County
First built in the 3rd year of the Taihe reign of the Jin Dynasty (1203), the temple underwent renovations in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. It covers an area of 7,000 square metres.
Facing south with its back to the north, the temple consists of three courtyards. The Dacheng Hall dates back to the year 1203 in the Jin Dynasty.
Along the central axis stand the Lingxing Gate, the Zhuangyuan Bridge, the Pan Pond, the Halberd Gate and the Dacheng Hall in sequence. On both sides are seven side halls and five wing rooms respectively.
The Dacheng Hall is three bays wide and three bays deep, with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. Its bracket sets are five-tiered with double cantilevers in the interlocking construction method. The beam frame is built with exposed upper structural timbers in a neat layout. The roof edge is trimmed with glazed tiles, and a terrace lies in the front. The Minglun Hall and the east and west wing rooms no longer exist.
The Dacheng Hall of the Confucian Temple is a precious surviving early building and representative among preserved architectures of the Jin Dynasty.
