Xi'an is an ancient capital as well as a prosperous metropolis in Northwest China, boasting a full range of leisure and entertainment venues. Defu Lane on the north side of Xiangzimiao Street embodies the modern leisure vibe of the city.

Also known as Luantan, Qinqiang is a distinctive local opera of Shaanxi and the oldest vocal art among Chinese traditional operas. Listening to Qinqiang offers great insight into the local people’s temperament. You can appreciate authentic performances at Yisu Grand Theater on West First Road near the Bell Tower. Qinqiang events are also regularly held in the southern section of the City Ring Park.

Hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, this grand calligraphy exchange event takes place in the last week of March every year.

The Terracotta Army Pomegranate Festival is held in Lintong in mid-September each year, lasting for seven days. Major activities include tours to the Terracotta Warriors and the Concubine Bath at Huaqing Hot Spring, sightseeing and pomegranate tasting in ten-thousand-mu pomegranate orchards, traditional pomegranate festival celebrations, and a fire-lighting ceremony at the ancient beacon tower on Mount Li.

The festival is held annually in September. Its rich programs feature imperial guard drum and gong shows, folk performances such as stilt walking, land boat dance, bamboo horse dance, lion dance and dragon dance, large-scale imperial fireworks, street folk rituals and grand theatrical performances.
