II. Social Achievements Exhibition
This exhibition hall displays physical objects, models, videos and photographs that chronicle the accomplishments made by people of all ethnic groups across the banner. Under the care and leadership of Party and government authorities at all levels, local residents have centered economic construction, emancipated their minds, sought truth from facts, strived through hardship and forged ahead to accelerate economic and social development.
The exhibits highlight remarkable progress achieved in recent years. Guided by the Scientific Outlook on Development, the whole banner seized opportunities brought by the national Western Development Strategy. Major strides have been made in advancing new-type industrialization, urbanization and agricultural and animal husbandry industrialization, transforming economic development patterns, boosting coordinated and sustainable growth, and driving sound and rapid socio-economic development.
Visitors can gain detailed insight into the banner’s development in science, education, culture, healthcare, transportation, water and power supply, ecological protection and people’s livelihoods over recent years.
III. Stone Carving and Rock Painting Exhibition
Northern China constitutes a major global concentration of rock art, and Right Alxa Banner stands out as one of the regions with the densest, most diverse and best-preserved rock painting relics. More than 69 rock painting clusters have been discovered to date, among which the Mandela Mountain Rock Paintings are the most representative.
Rock paintings within Right Alxa Banner are mainly distributed across Mandela Mountain, Longshou Mountain and mountainous areas in the northern part of the banner, spanning a historical period from the Paleolithic Age to modern times. Production techniques include chiseling, grinding and line carving. Subject matter features a large variety of wild animals, alongside scenes of warfare, sacrificial rituals, hunting, nomadic herding, totem patterns and ancient characters. Characterized by primitive, simple forms and sparse, concise lines, these rock paintings serve as extremely precious research materials for the ethnic history, art history and religious history of northern China.
The stone carving exhibition hall boasts well-preserved exhibits covering wide-ranging themes, including over 20 reproductions of the iconic Mandela Mountain Rock Paintings. These artworks reconstruct daily life and aesthetic tastes of ancient northern nomadic peoples including the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Turkic, Uyghur, Tibetan and Tangut tribes. These "wordless historical texts" record the joys and sorrows of nomadic civilizations in Right Alxa Banner and reveal their age-old aspirations.
IV. History & Ethnic Culture Exhibition
Right Alxa Banner is a border multi-ethnic county with Mongolians as the primary minority group and Han people forming the majority population. It has been a homeland for generations of Mongolian, Han, Hui, Manchu, Tibetan and other ethnic peoples, and the dwelling place of the Alxa Khoshut and Khalkha tribes of the Oirat Mongols.
Through displays of traditional production and living customs, festivals, recreational activities and competitive sports of local Mongolians, alongside introductions to their folk arts and religious beliefs, visitors can obtain a comprehensive understanding of Mongolian folk culture in Right Alxa Banner.
The folk culture exhibition hall showcases an array of artifacts, including diverse traditional costumes of Alxa and Khalkha Mongolians, silver bowls, daily goods woven from camel wool, traditional production tools, full-scale Mongolian yurt displays, ceremonial utensils for Mongolian hospitality, as well as taxidermied specimens of camels and argali sheep and assorted folk artworks. These collections fully demonstrate the profound cultural heritage and depth of the Mongolian people in Right Alxa Banner.
