One-Day Cultural Hiking Tour Retracing Yu the Great’s Footprints
Route Highlights
Climb mountains in autumn and reflect on history while appreciating the present.
Route Arrangement
Day 1: Jingtu Mountain Scenic Area → Yu King Palace → White Milk Spring → Bian He Cave
Day 1 Itinerary Details
Clear autumn days are ideal for this cultural mountain hike themed around Yu the Great.
Walk through pomegranate groves and stroll slowly up Tu Mountain along the Pilgrimage Road to Yu. Along the way, you will pass historic relics including Horse-Tethering Stone, Immortal Reclining Stone, the "Overlooking Pingcheng" Cliff Stone and the Waiting Husband Stone. Seek out the Sacred Spring and Spirit Spring, then rest a while at Yu King Palace.
Cross the Jingtu Bridge to reach the Jing Mountain Gorge, where the fully renovated ancient architectural complex of White Milk Spring unfolds before your eyes. Surrounding the spring sit Su Dongpo Memorial Hall, Lv Dongbin Hall, Wanghuai Tower, Mid-Mountain Pavilion, Martyrs Shrine and Worthies Hall, creating a distinctive charming scene.
Head west along Jing Mountain to Embracing Jade Cliff and step into the Green Snail Stone Chamber to learn the touching legend of Bian He. Below Bian He Cave lies the century-old ancient building complex of Huaiyuan No.1 High School, well worth a visit. The school’s compact hillside garden — the Garden of Multicolored Blossoms — carries a unique tranquil charm amid the sound of students reading aloud.
