Downtown Cultural Spots (Military Reclamation Core)
(1) Xinjiang Corps Army Reclamation Museum (4A, Free Admission with ID)
The only national museum themed on Xinjiang military reclamation. Three exhibition halls: ancient Shihezi relics, arduous reclamation history, modern urban development. Highlights: patched cotton army coats, primitive farming tools, dugout mud house scene, giant bronze group sculpture of corps pioneers.
Hours: 10:00–18:00, closed every Monday.
Landmark nearby: Bronze sculpture The First Plow of Reclamation at the front square.
(2) Premier Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall
A quiet garden memorial park built to commemorate Premier Zhou’s inspection tour of the corps. Free entry, great for peaceful strolls and red education.
(3) Beihu Park (North Lake Park, Free)
The largest urban lake park in Shihezi. Rent boats, fish, walk along lake shores, watch water birds; popular local leisure spot for families.
(4) Xingfu Road Pedestrian Street & Municipal Square
Central downtown gathering place for evening snacks, street performances and night photography.
Suburban Natural & Leisure Attractions
(1) General Mountain Liao-Jiang Ecological Park (Free)
A rolling green mountain range right outside the city.
Spring & summer: full hills of cherry blossom azalea seas; perfect sunset viewing platform overlooking the whole Shihezi city.
Winter: home to General Mountain Ski Resort (dry powder snow, beginner/intermediate/advanced slopes, ski gear rental ¥50/day).
(2) Changyu Baron Winery (Chateau)
French-style castle vineyard, 10 mins drive from downtown. Ticket ¥80 (deductible for wine purchase). Tour underground cellars, wander grape vineyards, taste local Xinjiang dry red wine, great for European-style photos.
(3) Taoyuan Agricultural Ecological Resort (4A)
14km² rural scenic area with thousand-mu peach orchards and lotus lake.
April: peach blossom viewing
Mid-July: lotus festival, boating on lotus ponds, Hanfu parades
Autumn: fruit picking of peaches, grapes and jujubes. Ticket around ¥30.
(3) Kenswat Scenic Area (Day Trip)
A natural mountain canyon reservoir at the northern foot of Tianshan, 1-hour drive from Shihezi. Crystal blue lake, snow-capped mountain backdrop, grassland pastures; ideal for hiking and landscape photography.
