Yanming Lake Tourism Resort
Nestled in Nanfu Village, Yanyang Town, hometown of the great Marshal Ye Jianying, the resort is a brilliant tourist pearl in Meizhou’s mountainous region. Located in the urban area, Hakka World is Guangdong’s first integrated tourism industrial park combining tourism real estate and cultural agriculture. Inside the park stand a 100-metre giant stone carving depicting Hakka migration, a 1,000-metre relief wall recording Hakka memories, a huge bronze sculpture of a Hakka market day, Asia’s largest thousand-mu azalea garden, and an antique Hakka Town — collectively forming a city of Hakka culture.
Changtan Tourism Zone
Dubbed the "Sun Moon Lake of Lingnan China", Changtan Tourism Zone lies in Changtan Town, Jiaoling County. Its crystal-clear river waters are famous across three provinces. The mountains resemble Wu Gorge, the waters evoke the Xiao and Xiang Rivers, and the scenery rivals Li River, with distinct picturesque vistas unfolding at every step.
Tanghu Hot Mineral Mud Resort
Known as "China’s Divine Mud". Located in Zhuanshui Town, Wuhua County, the resort features hot springs with water temperatures reaching up to 83°C. The mineral mud soaked by hot springs over thousands of years contains more than 60 trace elements essential to the human body, making it an ideal destination for health maintenance and wellness therapy.
Shenguang Mountain National Forest Park
"Divine light shines everywhere; roosters crow to greet dawn." Situated in Fuxing, Xingning City, the park boasts towering ancient trees and Shenguang Temple halfway up the mountain, which has drawn steady pilgrims for centuries and offers pleasant visits all year round.
Longjing River Drifting Scenic Area
Located in the northwest of Fengshun County, the drifting route stretches 9.8 kilometres with a total drop of 40 metres. Visitors drift downstream in unpowered inflatable rubber boats, feeling the thrill of "rowing through midstream as waves block flying boats" amid surging rapids, stirring passion for forging ahead. The thrilling yet safe journey delivers the delight of brave adventurers.
The scenic area hosts China’s largest, most numerous, best-preserved and most diverse group of glacial potholes, relics of ancient glaciers dating back over three million years.
Pingshan Terraced Fields Scenic Area
Situated 40 kilometres from downtown Dapu County, the terraced construction began in the mid-Ming Dynasty and finished in the early Qing Dynasty, boasting a history of over 400 years. Covering more than 1,200 mu in total, the core terraced fields span over 680 mu with slopes ranging from 25° to 65°. Layered tier upon tier across mountain ridges, they stretch spectacularly from mountain foot to summit and connect one hill to another, ranging from dozens to over a thousand tiers.
The terraces present distinct seasonal views all year round:
- February: Golden rapeseed flowers are in full bloom;
- March–April & July–August: The flooded terraces glisten like strands of pearl necklaces;
- April–May & August–September: Green rice seedlings spread like stacked green brocade;
- June & October: Ripening rice ears blanket the hills with boundless golden yellow.
Nanqiao Overseas Chinese Village
Honoured as "the No.1 ancient Hakka village in the Hakka homeland". Located in NanKou Town, Mei County, the village has a settlement history of more than 500 years, preserving numerous intact round dragon houses that embody rich authentic Hakka folk customs.
Sanheba Tourism Zone
The Mei River, Ting River and Meitan River converge here to form the Han River, with green peaks rising on eight riverbanks across four waterways, forming an idyllic poetic landscape.
On the east bank of the Han River stands the Sanheba Campaign Memorial Park of the August 1st Uprising Troops, a national key protected revolutionary memorial site perched atop Bizhiwei Hill. On the west bank lie China’s earliest Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Sun Yat-sen Park, the "Source of Han River" stone sculpture, an ancient Ming-dynasty city wall, and the tomb of Weng Wanda, Minister of War of the Ming Dynasty. The scenic zone also features numerous other cultural relic sites including the Ming ancient city and Weng Wanda’s mausoleum.
High-Altitude Round Dragon House
Copper Drum Peak, the highest mountain in eastern Guangdong, stands within Fengshun County at an altitude of 1,560 metres. A complete traditional Hakka round dragon house sits high on the mountain slope, recognised as the round dragon house at the highest altitude in China.
Hualou Hakka Earthen Tulou
Constructed in the 36th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, Hualou has a history of nearly 400 years and is listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit. The entire earthen building features rational layout, good ventilation and natural lighting, remaining warm in winter and cool in summer. More than ten Lin clan families still reside inside the tulou today.
With delicate design and unique structure, Hualou embodies the Hakka philosophy of completeness, unity, equality and fairness in daily life. It ranks as the largest, most exquisitely designed and best-preserved ancient residential earthen tulou in Guangdong, a spectacular wonder of global vernacular architecture.
