Xinbin Shiitake Mushrooms
14 out of the 15 townships in Xinbin County engage in edible mushroom production dominated by shiitake mushrooms. The county’s total shiitake cultivation area exceeds 10,000 mu, with an annual output of 50,000 tons, forming the embryonic form of a Northeast shiitake industrial base.
Xinbin County has identified the edible mushroom industry as its signature county-wide industry, formulated a five-year development plan for the sector, and established county, township and village three-level management institutions for edible mushroom industrial development. It has planned a "Four Zones and One Belt" industrial layout:
- Eastern Shiitake Cultivation Demonstration Zone centered on Hongmiaozi Township;
- Southern Edible Mushroom Advancement Zone centered on Weiziyu Town;
- Western Straw-decomposing Fungi Key Planting Zone centered on Muqi Town;
- Edible Mushroom Processing Zone based on Xinbin Town Health Food Park;
- An edible mushroom industrial belt along the southeast highway with Shangjiahe Town and Yongling Town as the core hubs.
The strategic industrial layout has taken shape, and the radiating driving effect of demonstration zones has accelerated the development of the county’s edible mushroom industry.
