Laba River Scenic Area (Ticket Required)
Adjacent to Erlang Mountain Scenic Area in the south, Laba River is a provincial nature reserve established to protect rare wildlife and plants such as giant pandas, takins, Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys, deer and dove trees. The altitude here ranges from 1,100 meters to 5,050 meters, and the total area covers 234.34 square kilometers.
Preserving well-preserved primitive landscapes, the scenic area features complete vegetation zones and abundant species. There are 206 species of vertebrates, plus 18 kinds of nationally protected rare trees including dove trees, tetracentron, cercidiphyllum and nanmu. Thirty-two species of wild animals under national Class I and Class II protection inhabit here, such as giant pandas, takins, golden snub-nosed monkeys, clouded leopards, green-tailed tragopans, temminck's tragopans, red pandas, sambar deer, forest musk deer, stump-tailed macaques, rhesus monkeys and mandarin ducks. It is a precious natural gene bank for rare wild flora and fauna.
Tickets: ¥58 per person; ¥32 for valid student ID holders.
Transportation
Direct buses depart for the scenic area at 09:00 from Chengdu Xinnanmen Tourist Bus Station.
Alternatively, take a bus from Chengdu Shiyang Bus Station to Ya'an first, then transfer to a coach bound for Tianquan. Take another bus from Tianquan Bus Station to Angzhou River to reach the scenic area.
