Famous mountains produce fine tea. Guiping Xishan Tea is grown in Xishan Scenic Area, a nationally renowned tourist attraction in Guiping, with an annual output of 600 tons.
The tea is celebrated for its tender buds, emerald hue, rich aroma and fresh taste. It presents a glossy dark green dry leaf, clear emerald liquor, mellow fragrance and lasting sweet aftertaste. It was twice named a National Famous Tea in 1984 and 1987.
It was exhibited at the Chicago Expo in the United States in 1984. In 1986, it scored 96.6 points and was honored as a National Famous Tea by China's Ministry of Commerce, praised for its glossy green leaves, clear liquor, mellow sweet flavor, delicate fragrance and refreshing taste. In the same year, it was showcased at expos in Singapore and Nagoya, Japan. It won the Second Prize at the China Tea Cup Competition in 2001.
