Shixia longan is a premium fruit native to Pingnan County, Guangxi. It won the Gold Award at the 2nd China Agricultural Expo in 1995. Pingnan has developed 200,000 mu of longan plantations, making it China's largest commercial production base for Shixia longan. In 1996, the county was designated a High-quality Shixia Longan Base County by the Ministry of Agriculture.
