The production of Luoxiu rice noodles dates back to the early Ming Dynasty. The noodles stay intact when boiled and do not stick to the pan when stir-fried. They taste crisp, smooth and carry a delicate natural fragrance.
In 1985, China Central Television featured the noodles in its documentary Wonders of China. In the footage, a bundle of semi-dry Luoxiu rice noodles weighing about 200 grams was hung on a horizontal bar. A 13-year-old boy swung on the noodles, followed by a 70-kilogram adult man, yet the noodles remained unbroken. This excellent toughness is attributed to the local water quality, climate and selected rice. Most Luoxiu rice noodles are still handmade today.
