The scenic area consists of three sections: Laojun Mountain Primeval Forest, Bozhu Mountain and Xihua Mountain. It also encompasses Upper Natural Bridge, Lower Natural Bridge, Dongfanghong Hydropower Station, Toutang Forest Park, Liujing Karst Caves and multi-layered plateau karst landforms ranging from tropical to south temperate zones. It is the only subtropical "Plant Treasure House" in southeastern Yunnan.

With 9 peaks, 16 ridges and 21 valleys, Laojun Mountain and Bozhu Mountain integrate mountain views, dense forests, clear springs, green bamboos, wild flowers and rare birds.

A giant chestnut tree, hailed as a "living fossil", has a chest circumference of 9.7 meters and a base diameter of 12 meters. Its hollow trunk can hold more than a dozen people standing inside, a true natural wonder.
