Nestled on Baiyun Mountain, 5 kilometers south of Jia County, Baiyun Mountain is named for its year-round swirling clouds. Baiyun Temple is famed for the verse “The gate needs no lock, enclosed by white clouds”福建省人民政府外事办公室.
A Taoist sacred site for centuries, it is the largest Ming-dynasty architectural complex in Northwest China. The temples and halls are densely arranged, magnificent in overall view and exquisite in detail. From the temple, visitors can overlook the Yellow River Grand Canyon and enjoy the bold Loess Plateau scenery of northern Shaanxi.
