During the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Beijing's consumer market saw steady growth. Enterprises in key sectors such as department stores, supermarkets, specialty stores, catering, and e-commerce, monitored by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, achieved sales of 4.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. Related data shows that 60 major commercial districts across the city recorded a total foot traffic of 22.312 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 21.1%.
Themed events boosted holiday consumption vitality. Beijing Fashion Week partnered with various commercial enterprises to host nearly 100 activities. The inaugural "Jingcai Lantern Festival" featured over 200 lantern displays at Beijing Garden Expo Park, and diversified night-time experiences such as night markets, night tours, and night shows created new consumption scenes. This contributed to a 25.3% year-on-year increase in nighttime foot traffic in the surrounding Fengtai Science Park business district. According to UnionPay Commerce data, during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Beijing saw a 24.2% year-on-year increase in nighttime service consumption and a 15.8% increase in consumer purchases of physical goods.
During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Summer Palace, Xiangshan Park, and other locations hosted numerous events to enhance the holiday consumption experience. According to UnionPay Commerce data, the number of transactions and spending by incoming tourists increased by 20.2% and 2.1%, respectively, compared to the previous year. Notably, spending on tourism tickets and cultural entertainment by these tourists grew by 47.1% and 16.7%, respectively.
