There is a direct coach to Meilin Town (Yunshuiyao is located within Meilin Town) departing from Zhangzhou West Bus Station at around 8:10 a.m. (For exact departure time, please call the station in advance). This bus passes Yunshuiyao and is the most convenient choice.

If you miss the coach mentioned in Option 1, take the intercity shuttle bus between Zhangzhou and Nanjing County from West Bus Station. Upon arriving at the county seat, numerous special shuttle buses heading for Yunshuiyao are available at the station.

Formerly named Changjiao, Yunshuiyao Ancient Town boasts stunning mountain and river scenery as well as profound cultural heritage.

Winding ancient stone paths, century-old banyan trees, marvelous tulou buildings, and serene green mountains and clear streams throughout the village offer visitors a peaceful, transcendent experience.

Yunshuiyao Ancient Town is also a well-known hometown of overseas Chinese in Zhangzhou. According to The Genealogy of the Jian Clan of Changjiao, clansmen of the Jian family began migrating overseas generation after generation from the 4th generation during the Xuande reign of the Ming Dynasty to the 16th generation, making a living in Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other regions. Today, more than 230,000 Taiwan compatriots trace their ancestral roots to Changjiao. In recent years, over 150 Taiwanese visitors travel thousands of miles back to the ancient town every year to worship their ancestors and seek their origins.

The tulou buildings here feature diverse architectural styles. Highlights include Hegui Building, hailed as "the most marvelous building under heaven" for being constructed on marshland, and Huaiyuan Building, an exquisitely crafted double-ring circular tulou that remains perfectly preserved. Besides these, there are stilt houses, bamboo pole tulou, mansion-style tulou and more, presenting unique and distinctive earthen architecture landscapes.

After Fujian Tulou successfully obtained World Cultural Heritage status, the local government officially named the over-10-kilometer cobblestone ancient path running through the village the "Yunshuiyao Ancient Trail", and renamed Changjiao as Yunshuiyao Ancient Town. This allows tourists to admire the extraordinary tulou structures, stroll along time-honored paths beside limpid waters, and gain insight into the profound historical ties between Fujian and Taiwan
