Longyan Bus Station operates coaches bound for Gutian with a travel time of about one hour. Alight at the Visitor Center of the Site of the Gutian Conference, and the scenic spots are within walking distance.
Brief Introduction to the Memorial Hall of the Gutian Conference
The Memorial Hall of the Gutian Conference is located in Gutian Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. Founded in 1964, it is a thematic revolutionary memorial hall dedicated to documenting the history and far-reaching significance of the Gutian Conference.
Covering a land area of 86,000 square meters with a construction area of 11,000 square meters, the hall houses more than 11,000 cultural relics, including over 2,000 precious items, making it the revolutionary memorial hall with the largest collection of cultural relics in Fujian Province.
The exhibition building was completed in 1972 and contains 10 exhibition rooms. The exhibition gallery stretches 306 meters and displays over 400 cultural relics, divided into three thematic sections: first, the historical background of the Gutian Conference; second, the glorious Resolution of the Gutian Conference; third, the eternal radiance of the Gutian Conference.
As a county-level sub-department public institution under Longyan City, the memorial hall has an authorized staffing quota of 40 and more than 60 on-site staff. It consists of four functional departments: the Cultural Relics & Archives Section, the Exhibition & Publicity Section, the Security Section and the General Office.
It administers seven cultural heritage protection sites:
- The Site of the Gutian Conference
- Gengxin Hall, former site of the Front Committee of the Fourth Red Army and the Political Department of the Fourth Red Army of the CPC
- Zhongxing Hall, former headquarters of the Fourth Red Army
- Xiecheng Shop, the venue where Mao Zedong wrote A Single Spark Can Start a Prairie Fire
- Wenchang Pavilion, site of the First Western Fujian Congress of the CPC
- Shuhuai Hall, former office of the Western Fujian Special Committee of the CPC
- Wenguang Pavilion, former Red Army sentry post
Over the past 40 years, the Memorial Hall of the Gutian Conference has consistently upheld education on revolutionary traditions and promoted the main theme of patriotism, playing a vital role in fostering socialist cultural and ethical progress. It has received more than 4 million visitors in total, including over 40 Party and state leaders such as Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Wu Guanzheng and Li Changchun, achieving remarkable social benefits.
It has been awarded numerous honors, including the National Advanced Unit for Cultural Work, one of the First Top Ten Outstanding Social Education Bases in China, one of the First Hundred National Patriotic Education Demonstration Bases, the National Advanced Patriotic Education Demonstration Base, and the First-Class Standard Memorial Hall of Fujian Province
