Self-Driving Routes
Fuzhou to Pingnan
- From downtown Fuzhou, enter the Funing Expressway at Fuzhou East (Mawei) or Fuzhou North (Wusi North), and exit at Zhangwan Interchange (the next exit after Ningde).
- Take National Highway 104 to Badu, then proceed along the Ningde-Pingnan Secondary Highway to Pingnan.
Xiamen to Pingnan
- Drive north along the Shenhai Expressway toward Wenzhou and exit at Zhangwan Interchange (the next exit after Ningde).
- Take National Highway 104 to Badu, then proceed along the Ningde-Pingnan Secondary Highway to Pingnan.
Wenzhou to Pingnan
- Enter the Shenhai Expressway at Nanbaixiang heading toward Fuzhou, and exit at Zhangwan Interchange (the exit right before Ningde).
- Take National Highway 104 to Badu, then proceed along the Ningde-Pingnan Secondary Highway to Pingnan.
Public Bus Routes
- The scenic area is 25 kilometers from downtown Pingnan. Take local public buses at Pingnan Bus Station bound for Baishuiyang / Yuanyang Stream Scenic Area.
- The scenic area is 150 kilometers from Ningde North Bus Station. Take intercity coaches from Ningde North Bus Station to Pingnan Bus Station, then transfer to local shuttle buses to the scenic spot.
Brief Introduction to Baishuiyang
Baishuiyang and Yuanyang Stream Scenic Area, located in Pingnan County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, holds multiple prestigious titles: Global Geopark, National Key Scenic Area, National Geopark, the world’s sole nature reserve for mandarin ducks and macaques, one of CCTV’s Top 10 China Travel Routes for Perfect Vacations, and one of Fujian’s Top 10 Tourism Brands.
It is 170 kilometers away from Fuzhou and 101 kilometers from Ningde. Shaped like a crescent moon, the entire scenic zone covers 66 square kilometers with a 36-kilometer-long stream, divided into five core zones: Baishuiyang, Yiyang, Liugong Rock, Taibao Building and Mandarin Duck Lake.
Praised as a "miraculous landscape" and "unrivaled wonder, a mystery of the universe", Baishuiyang features the world’s only shallow water square. Its flat riverbed stretches roughly 2 kilometers long and reaches a maximum width of 182 meters, covering a total area of 80,000 square meters and formed from a single massive stone slab. The water spreads evenly over the smooth bed with no sand or gravel. When visitors walk across, the water only covers their ankles. Under sunlight, the shimmering surface glows bright white, hence the name Baishuiyang, meaning "White Water Flat".
Between the middle and lower sections of the flat lies a nearly 100-meter natural slide. Sliding down bare skin causes no abrasion, earning it the nickname "natural surfing pool". Sunlight, clear white water and water-eroded ripples together create a gorgeously colorful riverbed. Tourists can wade, surf, or enjoy unique aquatic activities including water races, tug-of-war, martial arts performances, cycling and lion dances, fully embracing the refreshing coolness bestowed by nature.
