The cocktail alchemists behind Apothecary bring masterful cocktails and premium whiskies to the Jianwai SOHO set. Try the Apricot Old Fashioned or the Sazerac. Twilight plays mood-making jazz and is elegantly decorated, but plan to be fashionably late as the noise from downstairs in the early evening can sometimes break its spell. I've been to Twilight a number of times and each time is a real treat. While it is difficult to find (what isn't in this labyrinth SOHO) it's worth the effort. The staff is very talented and friendly. The drinks are inventive and divine - from the Moscow Mule to the bacon encrusted Bloody Mary. Don't forget the delicious french fries or fried chicken. It is a pity that this diamond in the rough is not better frequented. Should it fail in this location, it will most likely find a rebirth somewhere near Sanlitun.
