Lingshui Li autonomous county is situated in the southeast of Hainan Island. Its northeast connects with Wanning city, the north borders with Qiongzhong county, the northwest neighbors on Baoting county, the southeast borders on Sanya city and the southeast is in close proximity to the South China Sea. The coastline is 57.5 kilometers, with a total area of 1,128 square kilometers.
The county's terrain is mainly composed of mountains, hills and plains. There are 24 mountains around the county, among which Diaoluo mountain has the highest altitude of 1499.8 meters.
Lingshui Li autonomous county has 1,223 square kilometers of sea area covering Fenjiezhou island from northeast and connecting Sanya's sea area from southeast. Its sea area includes four bays -- Xiangshui bay, Lingshui bay, Qingshui bay and Tufu bay; two islands -- Fenjiezhou island and Nanwan peninsula; five natural ports -- Xincun port, Lian port, Shuikou port, Shanzhong port and Gangpo port, among which Xincun port is the biggest one covering a water area of 2,226 hectares and available area of 1235.8 hectares.
The county has 17 tourist attractions, including the Soviet government site, the stone carving of Japanese army's invasion of Lingshui, Sanmei Temple, Nanwan Monkey Island, Diaoluoshan National Forest Park, Xiangshui Bay, Boundary Island, Coconut Island, Tufu Bay, Qingshui Bay, and Gaofeng Hot Springs, of which Nanwan Monkey Island is the only Chinese macaca mulatta nature reserve.
