Longhu Mountain,(also named Dragon & Tiger Mountain), previously named Yunjin Mountain, 16 km southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, is not only the cradle of Taoism but also an important scenic resort in China. The Longhu Mountain Resort covers an area of about 200 square kilometers. The main scenic spots include the Shangqing Palace, Yingtian Mountain, Mazu Cliff, Hongwu Lake, Fairy Water Cliff, and Longhu Maintain. Taoism of China originated in this place, Longhu Mountain. The Taoism culture with a long history, beautiful and unique green hills with wandering streams and springs among them, and the mysterious and inexplicable cliff tombs are the three most amazing and attractive treasures among the natural and cultural treasures in the Longhu Mountain Resort.

　　In the middle of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 AD-220 AD), Zhang Daoling, the first Heavenly Master (title used by Taoists for the Head of Taoism) settled down here and began to make so-called imaginary “Pills of Immortality”. Legend has it that a dragon and a tiger appeared when the Pills were produced, so the Mountain was renamed as Longhu Mountain (Chinese Characters “ 龙（Long） ”“ 虎（Hu） ” are equivalents of “dragon and tiger” in English” ). The Title of Heavenly Master Zhang passed on for 63 generations, witnessing a Taoism sect which experienced the longest history of more than 1900 years among all single-name sects of this religion. The untouched Shangqing Heavenly Master Residence dating back to Han Dynasty, which was named as “Great True Man (a Taoist title)’s Residence”, currently covers over 30,000 square meters and remains well-preserved. The Shangqing Palace, one of the largest and oldest Taoism Temples in China, built in Eastern Han Dynasty, was considered a divine place where deity received their duties and Heavenly Master Zhang Daoling cultivated himself and obtained immortality.

　　Danxia landform is characteristic of the Longhu Mountain Resort. There are 99 peaks, 24 cliffs, and other scenic spots such as waterfalls, Taoism sites. If boating downstream along the Luxi Stream from the Shangqing ancient town, you’ll feel like in a fairyland and forget all the troubles in the secular world.
