Best Travel Time
Shengsi features a subtropical marine monsoon climate with cool, pleasant weather and distinct scenery across four seasons. It avoids scorching summers and frigid winters, making it suitable for vacations all year round. Particularly from July to September, the islands boast stunning vistas and sapphire-blue seawater — the most beautiful period of the whole year.
Precautions
While July to September is the prime visiting window, it also coincides with frequent typhoons. Always check the weather forecast before your trip.
The first and fifteenth days of each lunar month bring spring tides, when seawater surges and waves roll vigorously for spectacular coastal views.
Numerous small crabs inhabit the beaches, and many visitors catch them after dark. Prepare flashlights, buckets, shovels and other gear. Rental services for such tools are available on the beach but come at relatively high prices.
The Shenzhou ferry is the better choice for sea crossings. The Feiren ferry sways heavily in windy weather, offers barely faster travel time, yet charges higher fares.
