How to Tour Sanqing Mountain & Which Entrance to Choose for a One-Day Trip
Simply put, Sanqing Mountain’s scenic routes form the shape of the number 8:
- The South Qing Garden forms one loop, famous for oddly shaped rocks and grotesque mountain formations, focusing on delicate close-up views.
- The West Coast and East Coast make up the other loop, which features sunset glow, sea of clouds and rolling mountain ranges with grand panoramic scenery. Sanqing Palace and Yujing Peak can also be included in this loop.
Sanqing Mountain covers a vast area with ten major scenic zones. The four most spectacular ones are Sanqing Palace Scenic Area, Yujing Peak Scenic Area, West Coast Scenic Area and South Qing Garden Scenic Area.
Classic One-Day Itinerary
In theory, one day is enough to tour Sanqing Mountain. The classic circular route follows this order:
South Qing Garden → West Coast → East Coast → back to South Qing Garden.
This route covers all the prime highlights of the mountain, with 5 to 6 hours of hiking on the peak.
However, this trip requires good physical stamina. During golden week and public holidays, long queues for cable cars and huge crowds may seriously disrupt your schedule.
Two-Day Trip with Sunrise Viewing
If you want to catch the sunrise on the mountain, a two-day tour is highly recommended. You will have ample time to explore every corner of the scenic area.
Book accommodation near the sunrise viewing spot for greater convenience.
