Car Rental & Charter
Charter prices fluctuate with seasons and market demand. If you enter Xizang via the Qinghai-Xizang route, you have a wide choice of vehicles. Thanks to the good road conditions, not only off-road vehicles but also ordinary cars such as Santana sedans and small vans are suitable for this route. You can rent a car starting from Xining or Golmud.
Reminders
For safety and reliable service, choose vehicles operated by formal fleets or state-owned companies.
Watch out for scammers in Xining and Golmud. They often post fake travel information claiming imminent departures. In fact, they will keep waiting until the vehicle is fully loaded, which may take several days. Besides, they charge fares hundreds of yuan higher than the standard price.
