If heavy rain has fallen in the preceding two days, the river volume surges dramatically. On the Shanxi side, visitors can only watch the waterfall from afar and mostly see nothing but clouds of water mist. By contrast, the view from the Shaanxi bank remains spectacular under such conditions.

The Shaanxi side also offers the best vantage point to witness the waterfall’s maximum vertical drop. All in all, the Shaanxi bank delivers a stronger sense of the waterfall’s grandeur, especially in rainy summers with abundant water flow.

The viewing platforms on the Shanxi bank sit on the outer curve of the Yellow River bend, creating a unique visual perspective. Additionally, there is a separate-charge attraction called the Dragon Cave here. Tourists can descend into the cave to look up at the waterfall and enjoy an intimate encounter with the cascades, bringing a distinct viewing angle and experience.
