Endowed with the unique natural ecology of the Qinling-Bashan Mountains and the Han River, as well as profound cultural heritage, Ankang boasts abundant tourism resources. So far, 32 scenic areas and 78 scenic spots have been identified across the city.
Among them are 5 national forest parks: Nangong Mountain, Guigu Ridge, Qianjiaping, Tianhua Mountain and Shangba River Forest Parks. There are also multiple provincial forest parks including Leigu Platform Forest Park. Two national nature reserves are located here: Tianhua Mountain and Hualong Mountain Nature Reserves. In addition, Ankang has 8 national demonstration sites for industrial and agricultural tourism (such as Ankang Hydropower Station) and 2 provincial-level scenic areas. Up to now, 29 scenic spots have been officially opened to visitors.
Other famous attractions include the Han River, Chinese Taiji City, Ying Lake, Xiangxi Cave, Tianzhu Mountain, Bashan Autumn Pond, Ziwu Ancient Plank Road, Dragon King Mountain, Xunyang County Museum, Wenfeng Pagoda and Lühe Thousand-Mile Lotus Pond.

Ying Lake
Lying 15 kilometres upstream along the Han River in the southwest of Ankang City, Ying Lake is surrounded by rolling mountains including Tianzhu Mountain. The lake features vast clear waters dotted with numerous islets. To its south stretch undulating hills covered with lush pines, cypresses and bamboo groves. Peaks rise in varied shapes and strange rocks stand in grotesque forms. Dozens of waterways wind into remote valleys, presenting a perfect blend of idyllic rural scenery and peaceful lake views.

Cruise Ship
Taking a cruise is the best way to tour Ying Lake.
- April to October
Monday to Friday: Departures on the hour from 9:30 to 15:30.
Weekends: Departures every 30 minutes from 8:30 to 16:00.
- November to March: Departures at 10:00, 11:30, 13:00 and 14:30 daily.
The cruise covers all major scenic spots around the lake.
Minibus
Minibuses marked with "Ying Lake" depart from South Ankang Bridge Road directly to the scenic area.
- Fare: 5 yuan; Travel time: around 40 minutes; Buses leave when fully occupied.
- Note: Return services decrease sharply after 17:00–18:00. Please arrange your schedule properly.
Leigu Platform
Located at the junction of Ziyang County, Hanyin County and Ankang urban area in the middle section of the Phoenix Mountains, Leigu Platform is known as the First Peak of the Southern Pass. It stretches across the northern part of the county with rolling ridges and clustered peaks. The summit is covered with jagged rocks, set off by pines and bamboo. On clear crisp autumn days, visitors standing atop the peak can enjoy a panoramic view for hundreds of miles.
Ancient architectures dating back to the Ming Dynasty remain on the nearby cliffs. Though partially collapsed, they still reveal the grandeur of the original buildings.

Bus
Regular buses run between Hanyin and Xuanwo from 08:00 to 18:00, departing every 2 hours. Fare: 20 yuan. Alight at Leigu Platform crossing and continue on foot to the scenic area.
Nangong Mountain
Also called Brush Rack Mountain, it gets its name from three parallel peaks resembling a writing brush rack. As a branch range of Hualong Mountain on the northern slope of the Daba Mountains, it is a renowned tourist resort. Its glacial landforms combine strangeness, peril, wildness, elegance and serenity. With diverse and fascinating landscapes, the mountain is of great value for sightseeing and scientific research.

Transportation
Bus
Take a bus from Ankang Trade Bus Station to Langao County. Fare: 18 yuan; Travel time: about 2 hours. Then charter a vehicle to the mountain.
- One-way trip: 100 yuan for minibus or taxi
- Round trip: 170 yuan for minibus, 180 yuan for taxi
- Charter vehicles are available in the parking lot about 10 metres to the left of the station exit.
Xiangxi Cave
Situated 5 kilometres in the southern suburbs of Ankang, Xiangxi Cave faces the Bashan Mountains to the south and the Han River to the north. An ancient Taoist temple stands on the mountain. Legend has it that Lü Dongbin once cultivated immortality and met celestial beings here.
The scenic area covers over 10 square kilometres, encircled by layers of mountains. A winding stream runs down the hillside. During flood seasons, the rushing water forms spectacular waterfalls. The valleys are filled with fragrant wild flowers and lush grasses in gorgeous colours.
Transportation
Tourist Shuttle Bus
A dedicated tourist bus runs between downtown Ankang and Xiangxi Cave (only one vehicle in service). Travel time: 40 to 50 minutes; Fare: 2 yuan. It stops at Xing'an Park and Leishen Hall.
- Note: The return bus departs only when enough passengers are on board.
Lan River Rafting
The main section of the Lan River runs through Langao County, Ankang. It boasts clear water with moderate depth, where rapid shoals alternate with gentle water stretches. Leveraging these natural features, local tourism authorities have developed the popular interactive activity of Lan River rafting.

Buses depart from Ankang Bus Station for Langao County. Please confirm the return schedule with the driver in advance, as the last bus may be cancelled due to insufficient passengers.
