1. Basic Location
Grape Valley (local Uyghur name: Buyruk) is a famous scenic oasis tucked in the canyon of the Flaming Mountains, 11–15 kilometers northeast of downtown Turpan, Gaochang District, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwest China.
Stretching about 8 km from north to south and 0.5–2 km from east to west, it is fed by meltwater streams from the Tianshan Mountains. Known as a natural cool shelter in the blazing “Fire Land” Turpan, the temperature inside the valley is 5–10℃ lower than the urban area, covered with vast grape trellises, Uyghur villages and traditional grape drying houses (sun-baked adobe buildings for raisin making)途牛旅游网. It is a classic scenic spot combining grape agriculture, desert oasis scenery and Uyghur folk customs.

2. How to Get to Grape Valley
(1) From Urumqi to Turpan (Long-distance arrival)
High-speed Rail: Take bullet trains from Urumqi Station / Urumqi West Station to Turpan North Railway Station. The trip takes roughly 1.5 hours with frequent daily departures.
Self-driving: Drive along G30 Expressway, around 2.5 hours (180 km) from downtown Urumqi to Turpan city proper.
(2) From Turpan downtown / Turpan North Station to Grape Valley
① Public Bus (Budget Choice)
Bus No.5 / No.102 runs directly to the Grape Valley Visitor Center; fare is about 2–5 RMB, travel time: 30 minutes.
Special tourist shuttle buses depart from Turpan Coach Station at 09:00 / 10:00 / 11:00 / 12:00, return trips available from 16:00 to 19:00, ticket price ≈20 RMB.
② Taxi / Car-hailing
From Turpan city center: 20–30 RMB, 20–25 minutes’ ride.
From Turpan North High-speed Railway Station: roughly 40–50 RMB, a 20-minute drive to the scenic spot gate.
③ Self-driving
Navigate to Grape Valley Scenic Area South Gate. Free or low-cost parking (10–15 RMB per day) is provided at the scenic parking lot; driving time from Turpan urban area is about 30 minutes.
④ Chartered Car
Suitable for families or small groups. A one-day chartered car service inside Turpan costs about 200 RMB, flexible for scheduling multi-site visits including Flaming Mountains and Karez Wells.
(3) Inside the Scenic Area
The valley covers a large area. A mandatory sightseeing shuttle bus (25 RMB for unlimited rides within one day) is recommended to travel between Grape Corridor, Apandi Park, folk custom villages and Wang Luobin Music Hall携程.
