Picking Tour of Tang Jujube Ecological Park in Qingyun, Dezhou

Brief Introduction

Tang Jujube Ecological Park, a provincial-level agricultural tourism demonstration site, lies 11.5 kilometers northwest of Qingyun County seat, Shandong Province. Covering an area of 3,500 mu, this eco-tourism park centers on the thousand-year Tang-dynasty jujube tree and features a grove of tens of thousands of ancient jujube trees.

Inside the park stands a Tang jujube tree planted between the late Sui and early Tang dynasties, with a history of over 1,600 years. It is honored as the "King of Chinese Jujube Trees". The park also boasts scenic spots including the King Jujube Temple, sightseeing pavilions and memorial archways, as well as tens of thousands of ancient jujube trees named Filial Piety Tree, Mother-and-Son Tree and Husband-and-Wife Tree, surrounded by endless stretches of jujube woods.

Qingyun has been named the "Hometown of Chinese Golden Thread Small Jujubes" by the State Forestry Administration. The local golden thread small jujube boasts superior quality. When you split a semi-dried jujube, golden filaments formed by pectin and sugar can be clearly seen stretching between the flesh. These threads can be pulled one to two inches long without breaking and shimmer brightly under sunlight, hence the fruit’s name.

Golden thread small jujubes are rich in nutritional and medicinal value. Every 100 grams of fresh jujube flesh contains approximately 500 milligrams of vitamin C — more than ten times that of tangerines and dozens of times that of apples, earning them the nickname "living vitamin C pills". They also contain abundant protein, fat, iron, calcium, phosphorus and 18 kinds of amino acids essential to the human body. Regular consumption helps nourish the body and assists in relieving poor spleen and stomach function, indigestion, lung deficiency with cough, anemia and other ailments.
