Recommended Local Restaurants in Anqing
No.11 High School Lamian Noodle Shop
Address: Beside Anqing No.11 High School
Review: This is an extremely popular lamian noodle restaurant in Anqing. It was originally named after its location next to Anqing No.11 High School. As its business boomed, the owner opened numerous branches across the city. Even though most branches are not near the high school, the original well-known name was retained without change.
Shredded pork lamian noodles and shredded pork fried rice are its signature dishes. They are absolute must-tries if you visit this shop.
South Gate Pan-Fried Buns
Review: The most outstanding local breakfast spot is the pan-fried bun stall at South Gate. The taste is authentic and genuine. Located in a Hui Muslim residential area, the meat fillings are ultra-fresh and cooked to perfect doneness. Pair them with spicy mung bean ball soup for a satisfying breakfast.
Every morning from 6 a.m., crowds line up waiting for fresh buns. If you hit rush hour, prepare to wait patiently. The daily supply is limited, so patience is required.
Wu Fei Beef Lamian Noodles
Address: Intersection at the bottom of the big slope between No.116 Hospital and the Stadium
Review: The noodles taste fantastic with generous servings of beef, ranking top-tier in flavor.
It’s said many former students from Anqing Normal University’s old campus, now relocated to the new campus, will take taxis over a dozen kilometers on holidays just to eat here.
It’s best to come in the morning, as the shop only simmers a fixed batch of beef broth daily; the flavor turns lighter after noon.
Jiang Wanchun
Address: No.97 Jianshe Road (near Renmin Road)
Tel: 0556-5542971
Recommendations: Chicken broth boiled dumplings, cured meat siu mai, crab roe soup dumplings
Review: Better known as "Jiang Mao Dumplings", it is one of Anqing’s iconic local snacks. Its wrappers are as thin as paper, fillings plump like pearls, shaped like cat ears, with tender meat and fresh broth.
During the Cultural Revolution, the restaurant was renamed "Red Flag Dumpling House", before restoring its century-old brand Jiang Wanchun — a genuine time-honored eatery.
Yingjiang Building Restaurant
Address: Yingjiang Road (near Zhenfeng Pagoda)
Review: It offers more than 400 refined vegetarian dishes, plus a full range of affordable breakfast options including steamed buns, fried bread sticks, small oil cakes, soybean milk, milk and millet congee. Its siu mai are especially delicious.
