How to Explore Wuxi: The Best 2-Day Itinerary
Yuantouzhu, hailed as the top scenic spot south of the Yangtze River, is an unmissable destination. Save it for the second day, otherwise other attractions will pale in comparison.
Day 1
Head to Huishan in the morning and visit the Second Spring to ease into your trip. Grab a casual lunch along the ancient street.
In the afternoon, tour the Three Kingdoms and Water Margin Movie Studios. It’s recommended to book a hotel near Lihu Lake. After sightseeing, drive southwest along Shanshui Road to enjoy views of Taihu Lake along the way. Pull over at a suitable parking spot to watch the sunset over the lake—vibrant red glow spilling across golden ripples, a breathtaking sight.
Treat yourself to fresh lake seafood for dinner, but be sure to confirm prices before ordering. After dinner, drive downtown for a stroll; it only takes about 30 minutes.
Day 2
Pack some snacks and spend the whole day exploring Yuantouzhu.
After your visit, wander around the University Town, Changguangxi Wetland and Jiangnan University. You might even run into old classmates. There are countless dining options around the campus area.
Take a break, then head near Nanchan Temple to try local soup dumplings and braised spareribs in brown sauce. You can also stop by Zhongshan Road to buy packaged Sanfengqiao spare ribs as souvenirs.
Taihu Lake and Yuantouzhu are undoubtedly Wuxi’s most spectacular highlights.
