Recommended Changzhou Tourist Itineraries & Travel Schedules

Two-Day Ancient City Tour

Highlights include the Tang-dynasty Tianning Temple, the Southern Dynasties Wenbi Pagoda, and Su Dongpo’s Boat-Docking Pavilion from the Northern Song Dynasty — all iconic landmarks of the old town are covered.

Day 1: Tianning Temple → Hongmei Park → Boat-Docking Pavilion → Bijili Lane

After breakfast, visit Tianning Temple to admire classical Buddhist architecture, then climb the pagoda for a panoramic overlook of Changzhou’s cityscape. Afterwards, stroll through Hongmei Park located north of the temple.
Following lunch, tour the Boat-Docking Pavilion, first built in the Southern Song Dynasty. This is where the great Northern Song literary giant Su Dongpo moored his boat and set foot on Changzhou’s land. Next, visit Bijili Lane, also known as Flower Market Street. It sits on the north bank of the ancient Grand Canal in western Changzhou, right alongside the waterway. Changzhou has been famous for making fine-tooth combs and wooden hair combs since ancient times, earning reputations such as “Palace Combs & Famous Fine-Tooth Combs” and “Changzhou Combs Rank First Under Heaven”. Every household along this historic lane makes combs as their livelihood, and visitors can purchase handmade combs as souvenirs after sightseeing.

Day 2: Yancheng Ruins → Qu Qiubai Memorial Hall

After breakfast, take a 15-minute drive to the Spring and Autumn Period Yancheng Ruins. The site is encircled by three layers of moats. From the inner core outwards lie the Subcity, Subcity Moat, Inner City, Inner Moat, Outer City and Outer Moat — a unique layout of three nested cities separated by three waterways. This architectural form is one-of-a-kind among all ancient city relics in China; most ancient cities feature one city with one moat, while only a small number have two cities paired with one or two moats. The Yancheng Ruins stretch 850 meters from east to west and 750 meters from north to south, perfectly matching the record in Mencius that describes “a city three li across, with an outer wall seven li around”.
After the tour, head back to downtown Changzhou for lunch, then visit the Qu Qiubai Memorial Hall to pay tribute to the revolutionary martyr.

Classic Four-Day Tour

Lush mountains, clear waters, fragrant tea, fresh lake fish and crisp clean air shape Tianmu Lake Resort’s elegant aura: “A pearl south of the Yangtze, blessed with unrivaled lake and mountain scenery”. It offers visitors a wonderful feeling of stepping into a green fairyland and returning to nature’s simplicity.

The Cocosuke Grand Canyon holds mysterious primitive structures, cute dinosaurs and their friends, guiding visitors through a joyful, secret dinosaur kingdom — the hidden core zone and military heart of the dinosaur realm. A grand float parade marches through the park every day.
In the evening, unwind at Dinosaur Valley Hot Spring, an ecological garden-style hot spring complex with viewing pavilions. It covers five themed bathing zones with nearly forty open-air pools.
