Integrating traditional Hakka dwellings and modern architecture, it reproduces Marshal Ye Jianying’s brilliant, legendary life. At three critical historical turning points, Ye Jianying exerted decisive influence to reverse the tide of events with subtle yet powerful efforts. Mao Zedong commented on him: "Zhuge Liang was prudent all his life; Lü Duan never muddled through major affairs." Zhou Enlai praised him: "Storms reveal tough grass; turmoil tests loyal ministers."
China Hakka Museum
"Understand a thousand years of Hakka history in one day." Located in downtown Meizhou, this national-level thematic museum is the sole institution nationwide dedicated to collecting, researching, exhibiting and inheriting Hakka culture. It serves as a grand "Hakka Cultural Expo Park" that gathers Hakka architecture, art, customs and local folk customs under one roof.
Lingguang Temple
A national AAAA-level scenic spot, Lingguang Temple nestles at the foot of Yinya Mountain within Yanyang Town, 46 kilometres away from downtown Meizhou. It ranks among the four most renowned ancient temples in Guangdong Province. Built clinging to the mountain slope, the temple has enjoyed nationwide fame since ancient times for its three unique wonders:
- In the lawn in front of the temple stand two cypress trees, one alive and one dead. The living tree flourishes with luxuriant branches and stands tall and proud; the dead tree retains thick sturdy trunks and branches without decaying even after withering.
- The magnificent Mahavira Hall, the main shrine of the temple, is always filled with incense smoke, yet visitors are never choked by fumes under any circumstances.
- Lush green trees cover the mountain behind the Mahavira Hall, yet not a single fallen leaf accumulates on the hall’s roof.
Travellers eager to watch sunrise and mountain views at Wuzhi Peak may arrive at Lingguang Temple one day in advance and climb to the peak at dawn the next morning. Lucky visitors may even witness the magical "divine light" phenomenon.
