Recommended Itineraries for Jinggangshan Tour
1. Ciping Town
Ciping is an exceptionally clean and beautiful small town, which you can tour entirely within one hour. It serves as the core service hub of the entire scenic area, and all major spots are within easy reach from here. You must book accommodation in Ciping.
If you arrive at noon, the afternoon is the ideal time to visit attractions inside the town, including:
- Beishan Martyrs Cemetery
- Former Residence of Mao Zedong
- Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum (free admission)
- Yicui Lake (a small man-made lake)
- Tianjie Street (local specialty shopping street, especially stunning at night)
2. Main Jinggangshan Scenic Zones (Routes A, B & C)
Routes A, B and C cover the core mountain landscapes and can be finished within one full day.
- Route A: Huangyangjie → Hundred Bamboo Garden & Red Army Mint Site → Dragon Pool Waterfalls → Xiaojing Red Army Hospital
- Route B: Dajing Jinggangshan Village → Shuikou Rainbow Waterfall (Jinggangshan Lake lies downhill from the waterfall; speedboats shuttle between the lake and the Main Peak Scenic Area of Route C)
- Route C: Five-Finger Peak Main Peak Scenic Area → Jinggangshan Lake (the same lake at Shuikou; speedboat fare: 42 RMB per person)
3. Special Route D: Bijia Mountain (Azalea Mountain)
This dedicated route requires a separate full day for sightseeing.
In total, a complete Jinggangshan trip takes two and a half days. If your schedule is tight, you may skip Bijia Mountain to save one day’s travel time.
