Spring has arrived, and flowers are blooming across the country. Among them, the bright golden rapeseed flowers attract numerous tourists. From early March to late April, famous rapeseed flower fields nationwide enter their prime viewing season. Vast stretches of blossoms burst into full bloom, presenting a stunning golden vista. With so many renowned flower fields across China, where should you go? Let’s take a look.

Blooming Period: February to early April

Rapeseed flowers in Luoping bloom relatively early in China, usually reaching full blossom right after the Spring Festival. Boasting a total area of 800,000 mu, the flower fields create a spectacular view, blending perfectly with rolling peaks and terraced fields.

At Luosi Tian (Snail Terraces), golden rapeseed flowers weave together with layered green terraces and gurgling streams, forming a vivid, picturesque scene. Jinji Peaks is another ideal spot, perfect for overlooking the flower sea and watching sunrise and sunset. Standing atop the peaks, you can take in the entire golden expanse and truly feel the grandeur of Luoping’s rapeseed flowers.

Blooming Period: March to April

Rapeseed flowers thrive in Wuyuan from March to April. In March, blossoms flourish in low-altitude areas including Jiangwan, Likeng and Rainbow Bridge. Starting from April, the flowers take their turn to bloom in higher-altitude Jiangling and Qingyuan.

Wuyuan’s rapeseed flower fields are not the largest in scale, yet they feature a unique charm, set against traditional Huizhou-style villages with white walls and black tiled roofs. If you visit in mid-to-late March, apart from golden rapeseed flowers, you can also see clusters of red azaleas, green tea bushes, pink peach blossoms and pure white pear blossoms scattered across the hills. This one-of-a-kind landscape is absolutely breathtaking.

Blooming Period: April to May

For rapeseed flowers growing on water, Dongwang Village in Ganggu Township, Xinghua, Taizhou is the top destination. During the flowering season, countless field islets separated by crisscrossing waterways turn into thousands of small islands covered with golden blossoms, forming a distinctive "Thousand-island Flower Sea".

Tourists can drift between the flower islets on bamboo rafts. Along the way, you may also watch wild ducks being released and cormorants fishing.

Blooming Period: March to April

As a major rapeseed planting base, She County is home to a 2,000-kilometer-long rapeseed flower belt. The flowers spread across hillsides, terraced fields and riverbanks, unfolding like a magnificent three-dimensional painting.

Stretching along the upper reaches of the Xin’an River, a continuous flower corridor runs through Xiongcun, Taohuaba, Shendu, Miantan, Nanyuankou and Shitan.

Shitan Village in Xiakeng Town is a favorite among photography enthusiasts. Tucked away in remote mountains, it used to be inaccessible and little-known. Thanks to improved transportation in recent years, more travelers come here, especially photographers during the flower season. Nevertheless, it remains much quieter than other crowded rapeseed flower resorts.
