Local Specialties of Longhu Mountain
Junshan Lake Hairy Crabs
They are a well-known local delicacy with plump, tender meat. Apart from the crabs themselves, the accompanying dishes feature a variety of aquatic products from Junshan Lake, including more than ten kinds of lake fish with exquisite flavors. Sailing a small boat amid the picturesque mountains and waters of Junshan Lake while enjoying freshly caught hairy crabs and other river delicacies is an immensely pleasant experience.
Sichuan Beef and Ox Tripe in Chili Sauce
Its great taste speaks for itself, and its enduring popularity has long been proven by countless diners over the years.
The rich, smoky aroma comes from stir-fried chili powder, while the red chili oil carries mixed fragrances of various spices. The flavors are rich, layered, full-bodied and lingering on the palate.
Whitebait
Whitebait is widely available in the area and can be easily sampled in local restaurants. It has delicate tender texture and a delicious taste. Moreover, it helps moisten the lungs and tonify the kidneys, bringing great health benefits. It is also easy to carry around.
Guixi Preserved Mustard Greens
Also known as Hundred-Year Vegetable or Longevity Vegetable, it is a traditional snack from Guixi City, Jiangxi Province. Made from leaf mustard, the plant resembles a male lion with nine branching roots, hence it also earns the nickname Nine-Headed Lion Vegetable.
You may not have heard of Guixi preserved mustard greens, but they are absolutely a must-try.
Originating from Longhu Mountain, the sacred Taoist site, it is also called Longhu Mountain Taoist Dish by locals. Legend has it that Heavenly Masters always took this preserved vegetable as dry rations when traveling across the country.
Taoist pilgrims from all over China highly praised it after tasting it, calling it famous across the capital and provinces, and unmatched anywhere else. Later, it was even presented as a tribute to the imperial court, so it is also known as Tribute Vegetable.
