Located 20 kilometers southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, Longhu Mountain got its name from an ancient legend. In the mid-Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling, founder of the Zhengyi Taoist School, refined elixirs here. It was said that dragons and tigers appeared the moment the elixir was completed, hence the mountain was named Longhu Mountain (Dragon and Tiger Mountain). Tianmen Mountain, its highest peak, stands at 1,300 meters above sea level.
Longhu Mountain is China’s eighth World Natural Heritage Site, also accredited as a World Geopark, National Natural and Cultural Dual Heritage, National 5A Tourist Attraction and Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.
Enjoy Water Fun in Crystal-Clear Luxi River
The river water of Longhu Mountain is most enchanting in spring — limpid and rippling gently. The emerald-like Luxi River winds quietly through the fantastic mountains. Majestic peaks set off graceful waters, forming a breathtaking natural landscape painting.
Take a bamboo raft drift along the river. Floating on the water, you will feel like wandering inside a beautiful painting. The enchanting scenery on both banks makes you feel as if you have stepped into a dreamland paradise. Taste the pure river water on your spring outing; its mild flavor embodies the simplicity of life.
