What are the New Eight Scenic Spots of Foshan?

Green Xiqiao Mountains (Xiqiao Mountain, Nanhai)

Xiqiao Mountain lies in the southwest of Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Nestled among Guangzhou, Foshan, Shunde, Jiangmen and Gaoming, it is merely 45 kilometers north of downtown Guangzhou, reachable within one hour by car. Boating serene natural scenery, profound cultural heritage and simple authentic folk customs, Xiqiao Mountain has long drawn literati, scholars and tourists alike since the Qing Dynasty, emerging as a famed tourist hot spot across southern Guangdong.

Sacred Ancestral Temple Grounds (Foshan Ancestral Temple)

Situated in Chancheng District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, Foshan Ancestral Temple was first constructed during the Yuanfeng reign of the Northern Song Dynasty (1078–1085). Dedicated to the Taoist God Zhenwu, the Northern Heavenly Emperor, it was originally named the Northern Emperor Temple. The original buildings were burnt down at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and reconstructed in the fifth year of the Hongwu reign of the early Ming Dynasty (1372). It earned the title "Ancestral Temple" for its long history and status as the foremost temple in Foshan. In 1962, it was designated a Major Cultural Relic Protection Unit of Guangdong Province and is managed by the Foshan Museum.

Elegant Qinghui Garden (Qinghui Garden, Shunde)

Qinghui Garden stands on Qinghui Road, Daliang Town, central Shunde District. The site was once the private garden of Huang Shijun, a top scholar of the late Ming Dynasty, while most existing buildings date back to the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty. The name "Qinghui" translates to warm radiant sunlight, symbolizing the kindness of parents. Passed down and renovated over five generations of the Long family — Long Yingshi, Long Tinghuai, Long Yuanren, Long Jingcan and Long Zhuhui — the garden gradually took shape as a well-structured and distinctive Lingnan classical garden. Together with Liang Garden of Foshan, Yuyin Mountain Villa of Panyu and Ke Garden of Dongguan, it is collectively known as the Four Great Classical Gardens of Guangdong, a representative masterpiece of Lingnan garden architecture and a provincial-level protected cultural relic.

Timeless Ancient Kilns (Nanfeng Ancient Kiln, Chancheng)

The Nanfeng Ancient Kiln Ruins sit on Zhengang Hill at the southwest corner of No.3 Daily Ceramics Factory in Shiwan Town, Foshan. Stretching south along the mountain slope right beside the Dongping River, the kiln faces due south, hence its name. Located in Shiwan, the renowned Pottery Capital of South China, the Nanfeng Ancient Kiln Tourist Area is world-famous for its 5,000-year pottery-making history. Covering roughly 400 mu, it integrates tourism, sightseeing, ceramic production, craft workshops, academic seminars, hands-on experiences and shopping. The tourist zone comprises three sub-attractions: Nanfeng Ancient Kiln, Pottery Sculpture Park and Green Peacock Park.

Splendid Flower Sea (Chencun Flower World, Shunde)

To boost industrialized flower cultivation, Chencun Town built Chencun Flower World in 1998, a comprehensive flower trade hub integrating flower planting, sales, sightseeing, scientific research and information services. Planned to span 10,000 mu, it features two major markets and one grand park: China Flower Trade Plaza, International Orchid Trading Center and Flower World Park. The land is divided into three functional zones: a 3,000-mu sales zone, a 6,000-mu high-tech cultivation zone and a 1,000-mu comprehensive service zone. So far, 4,500 mu has been developed with total investment reaching 430 million yuan. More than 280 professional flower enterprises from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, France and all over mainland China have settled here.

Lotus Scenery Amid Clouds and Water (Sanshui Lotus World)

Sanshui Lotus World is currently the world’s largest specialized ecological lotus garden with the richest lotus varieties, integrating architecture, sculpture and profound lotus culture. Developed by the government of Xinan Town, Sanshui District, the park was created under the guidance of Professors Wang Qichao and Zhang Xingyan from the China Lotus Research Center. Covering 1,000 mu with 600 mu of water surface, it sits in the southeast of Sanshui’s tourism and economic zone, a well-known land of fish and rice. Convenient expressway links connect the park to surrounding cities.

Towering Zaomu Mountain (Zaomu Mountain, Gaoming)

The Pearl River Delta is short of grand lofty mountains, making Zaomu Mountain in Gaoming District a precious natural gift to Foshan. It lends the city of Foshan majestic aesthetic grandeur. Thanks to its unspoiled natural landscape, the 3,800-square-kilometer land of Foshan boasts an untouched mountain wilderness untouched by human construction. Travel west out of Chancheng District, cross the Xijiang River and enter Gaoming. Drive 38 kilometers further west and south, and you will reach an area gurgling with mountain streams and rustling pine trees, layered with verdant greenery. Rolling rugged peaks rise in succession, among which one sturdy, imposing summit towers against the sky — that is Zaomu Mountain.

Peachland of Southern China (Nanhai South China Peach Garden)

South China Peach Garden Tourist Resort is located in Songgang, Shishan Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, famed as the hometown of peach blossoms. Covering an area of eight square kilometers, it lies 12 kilometers from downtown Guangzhou and Foshan, and 30 kilometers from Huadu. It enjoys mild weather all year round, with matching mountains and waters, singing birds and blooming flowers, delivering pure fresh natural surroundings. Three core scenic spots make it a world-famous resort: the grand Nanhai Guanyin Temple, the largest of its kind in South China; CCTV Nanhai Movie and Television City, one of China’s four major film studio bases; and Bibo Lake Egret Paradise, a natural ecological reserve. On Guanyin’s birthday, countless pilgrims flock to Nanhai Guanyin Temple. The adjacent Phoenix Scenic Area offers a peaceful retreat, while every landmark including Split Cake Rock, Stone Drum and Waterfall carries a beautiful folk legend.
