What are the fun places to visit in Huizhou?

Huicheng District: Half City of Mountains, Half City of Lakes

Huizhou West Lake (Ticket Required)

A national key scenic spot, national AAAA-level tourist attraction, and one of Guangdong Province’s first batch of provincial-level scenic areas. Nestled right within downtown Huizhou, it was historically as famous as West Lake in Hangzhou and Yingzhou West Lake.
The scenic zone is divided into seven areas: Fenghu Lake, Pinghu Lake, Linghu Lake, Ehu Lake, Nanhu Lake, Gaobang Mountain-Honghua Lake and Jinshan Lake. Su Dongpo left numerous historic landmarks here, which gain extra charm thanks to his legacy.

Huizhou Museum

Huizhou ranks among the first batch of provincial-level famous historical and cultural cities. The Huizhou Museum stands on the scenic Fenghu Peninsula of West Lake, the former site of Fenghu Academy founded in the second year of the Baoyou reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1254).
It houses more than 80,000 cultural relics, including over 360 Class-I, Class-II and Class-III national cultural relics covering a wide variety of categories.

Huidong District: Blue Seas and Silver Beaches, a Coastal Pearl

Xunliao Bay

Located on the eastern part of Daya Bay of the South China Sea, Xunliao Bay is framed by rolling hills and sea, where mountains and waters interlock and sea and sky merge as one. It boasts some of the cleanest seawater along hundreds of kilometers of eastern Guangdong coastline.
Mountains, soft beaches and giant boulders scatter across Xunliao Bay, dotted with dozens of islands of varying sizes. The islands feature crystal-clear spring water, fine soft sand, and oddly shaped jagged peaks and rocks.

Huidong Port National Turtle Nature Reserve

This national nature reserve mainly protects sea turtles — internationally endangered national Class II protected animals — as well as their spawning and breeding habitats. It is the last natural spawning ground for sea turtles along China’s 18,000-kilometer mainland coastline.
In 2002, it was inscribed on the List of Wetlands of International Importance, and it is one of China’s first members of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

Longmen County: A Green Mountain Oasis and Hometown of Farmer Paintings

Nankun Mountain National Forest Park (Ticket Required)

The Tropic of Cancer cuts through the mountain range, earning Nankun Mountain the moniker "Oasis on the Tropic of Cancer".
Crafted by nature’s master hand, the park is dotted with grotesque peaks and exquisite rocks, featuring countless magnificent unique sights. Reputed as "Summer Paradise of Southern China", it is a genuine natural oxygen bar of Guangdong.

Longmen Natural Hot Spring Resort (Ticket Required)

Sited at Laiwu Village, Longtian Town, the resort centers on ecological leisure and wellness activities with distinctive Hakka rural culture as its highlight.
It functions as a multi-functional suburban hot spring resort town integrating spa therapy, health preservation, vacationing, catering, entertainment, sports and conference services, treating all guests to premium VIP-level service throughout their stay.

Boluo County: Magical Immortal Mountains

Xiangtou Mountain National Nature Reserve

Lying in northern Huizhou within Boluo County and right alongside the Tropic of Cancer, Xiangtou Mountain is a rare green oasis on the Tropic. Classified as a forest ecosystem nature reserve, it primarily safeguards south subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests and native wild flora and fauna, and also serves as a vital water conservation forest for the Dongjiang River.

Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall of Huizhou

The memorial hall is situated within the Zhuming Cave scenic area of Luofu Mountain (Ticket Required), boasting an elegant and picturesque setting.
It officially opened on December 1, 2003, marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Dongjiang Column. The hall chronicles the establishment and development of the column, recording the glorious arduous battles waged by Communist Party-led troops and civilians across the Dongjiang region during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the Chinese People’s Liberation War.
