Taixi Coal gets its name from Rujigou and Taixi Town in Shizuishan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It features three low indicators (low ash content, low sulfur content and low phosphorus content) and six high indicators (high calorific value, high specific resistance, high lump coal rate, high chemical activity, high clean coal recovery rate and high mechanical strength). Ranking top among premium coal in China, it is exported to more than ten countries across Asia, Europe and America.
Taixi Coal boasts tremendous economic value. It serves as an excellent fuel for metallurgical industry and daily use, as well as a fine raw material for chemical industry. When ground into 200-mesh coal powder and injected into blast furnaces, 1 ton of Taixi Coal can replace 1 to 1.28 tons of coke, bringing optimal economic benefits for modern blast furnaces.
It is also an ideal fuel for iron ore sintering, a raw material for calcium carbide production and fine filter material for water treatment, and widely used for gas production in chemical fertilizer plants. In addition, it is designated coal for testing the Roga index and a superior raw material for making activated carbon and supported activated carbon. Carbon products made mainly from Taixi Coal enjoy superior quality, and the coal is also a premium fuel for fireplaces in high-end residences worldwide.
As one of Ningxia’s renowned local specialties alongside the Five Treasures of Ningxia — Tan sheep wool, Chinese wolfberry, Helan stone, hair weed and licorice, Taixi Coal is elaborately packaged and exported to Europe for household fireplaces.
Shizuishan, the hometown of Taixi Coal, is the second largest city in Ningxia, second only to the capital Yinchuan, with a population of around 800,000. Built and prospered on coal, it is hailed as "Coal City on the Frontier".
