Local Specialties of Suining

Suining is located in the eastern part of the Sichuan Basin. Its terrain is dominated by low mountains and hills, with a subtropical climate. Among local products, the Qianniushan Pomelo from Shehong County enjoys the highest reputation. Bright in appearance, the fruit has a rich, sweet flavor and is deeply popular among people. In addition, Suining is a major producing area of the traditional Chinese medicine dahurian angelica root, earning it the title of Hometown of Dahurian Angelica Root.
Guanyin Embroidery, a traditional tourist craft of Suining, was created by Huang Haiyan, a local craftswoman. Based on Sichuan embroidery, it integrates techniques of Suzhou embroidery, Cantonese embroidery and other styles. This craft mainly depicts the profound Guanyin culture through exquisite stitching. A complete industrial chain has taken shape over the years. What started as a small Guanyin Embroidery Art Workshop has now grown into efforts to build Suining into a folk culture hometown for Guanyin Embroidery and construct a folk culture exhibition park for the craft. Today, Guanyin Embroidery has become a well-known local brand of Suining.
Suining also boasts a host of renowned specialties famous at home and abroad, ideal as gifts for relatives and friends.

Local Specialties of Suining

Tuopai Qujiu Liquor

Produced in Shehong, Sichuan, Tuopai Qujiu is a strong-aroma type Baijiu (Chinese liquor). It uses sorghum as the main raw material and wheat-made Daqu as the saccharifying and fermenting agent. Brewed with a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology through fermentation, aging and blending, the liquor is clear and transparent, with rich cellar aroma, a mellow, sweet and refreshing taste and a lasting aftertaste. It was named a National Famous Liquor at the 5th National Liquor Appraisal Competition.

Maidina Beef Products

Spiced beef, hand-torn beef and fruit-flavored beef under the Maidina brand are classic local specialties of Shehong. Made from carefully selected high-protein and low-fat yellow cattle, these beef delicacies are prepared with rare Chinese medicinal herbs and seasonings via unique techniques. They feature an exquisite taste and distinctive flavor, and are nourishing for invigorating qi and strengthening the body, suitable for people across the country.
Hand-torn beef and fruit-flavored beef are popular leisure snacks. Tender, chewy and full of rich aroma, they are favored by visitors from all regions. Tearing and chewing the beef lets its savory flavor linger pleasantly on the palate.
