Danzhu Primeval Forest is located in the southwest of Xianju County, 45 kilometers away from the county seat. It is one of the core scenic zones of Xianju National Key Scenic Area.
The forest abounds in abundant animal and plant resources and boasts complete and diverse biospheres, home to more than 2,000 biological species. Its well-preserved primeval ravine evergreen broad-leaved forest is a rare sight across China. The area shelters over a hundred varieties of nationally protected wild flora and fauna, including southern yew, emmenopterys henryi, torreya jackii, phoebe chekiangensis, eucommia, magnolia officinalis, ficus erecta, dysosma versipellis, golden leopard, pangolin, five-pace viper and salamander. Hence it earns the reputations of a "Green Gene Bank" and a "Natural Treasury of Medicinal Herbs".
Danzhu Primeval Forest is divided into three major functional zones: the Stream Valley Leisure Zone, the Popular Science Sightseeing Zone and the Forest Adventure Zone.
The 7-kilometer Stream Valley Leisure Zone stretches from Stone Ancient Village to Thatched Manor. Here visitors can fully immerse themselves in rural delights such as farm-stay experiences, natural wild bathing pools, tea house tastings and rural vacations.
The Popular Science Sightseeing Zone covers the ravine stretch where clear mountain springs converge from Thatched Manor to Dragon-Tiger Grotto. Strolling leisurely along its 2-kilometer trail, you will witness rich biodiversity and the harmonious rhythm of nature, breathing abundant negative oxygen ions from this natural forest oxygen bar, leaving your heart refreshed and reluctant to depart.
If you crave more thrills, venture deeper into the remote ancient woods to enter the Forest Adventure Zone, where you can truly experience the antiquity and mystery of primeval forest. Do bear safety precautions in mind!
